There are many ways to market these positions such as flyers, media, and job boards. Target is a major organization that utilizes external recruiting. Three characteristics where external recruitment would be ideal are communication, wages, and KSA's. Target is known for having helpful workers on the floor and never being short staffed. The main positions that Target is hiring for are cashiers and stockers. Target hires externally by means of media, flyers, and job boards. In their flyers they ensure to communicate the type of positions they are hiring for, skills needed, and the started wage. This helps to ensure they are attracting applicants that are clear about what will be expected. An advantage to using these types of recruiting processes are that you generally attract that type of applicants that you want because you are very clear about what the job entails. Another advantage is that hiring external means that there are a large amount of applicants, which gives you more to choose from. A disadvantage of hiring externally is that cost for advertising can become pretty expensive. It takes a lot of money to make flyers and to pay someone to constantly update the job board. Another disadvantage is that there may be too many people applying for the position, which can mean that it will take a longer time to read all of the applications and narrow them down to the most qualified.
